A Journey of Creativity, ingenuity, and perpetual discovery.

My design journey has auspicious beginnings, with my first agency job introducing me to a remarkable nonprofit client that would become a cornerstone in my career.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science captivated me from the start. A few years and a few agencies later, I was hired at HMNS as part of its in-house marketing department. My career had come full circle. I had the opportunity to influence the creative expression of an organization I knew and loved – this time from the inside.

My job at HMNS was to provide turnkey advertising and design materials for all of the Museum’s venues and departments, from concept to completion. I was given great responsibility with immense creative latitude. What I lacked in budget (think “nonprofit”) I made up for in resourcefulness. And, while my creative energy was technically focused on one entity, the HMNS experience was very similar to that of a design firm with a diverse client base. Every other month brought new exhibits, vastly different design and marketing challenges, and more than a few hair-on-fire deadlines. I thrived in this fast-paced, ever-changing environment and soon rose to the rank of creative director.

My time at HMNS proved to be one of the most challenging and rewarding chapters in my career. I collaborated with professionals in every facet of the industry. From illustrators, writers and digital/print marketing gurus to filmmakers, actors, animators and sound engineers – I was immersed in an world of creatives whose talents and backgrounds were as varied as the work we produced together. Versatility, resilience, resourcefulness and flexibility are traits I strongly possess as a result of my HMNS experience. And I believe my work reflects these traits.

After 21 years with HMNS, my job was eliminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this was a “sabbatical” I hadn’t anticipated, I embraced the opportunity to grow my skill set in the interim. I committed myself to a rigorous UX/UI program to advance my digital media expertise while I reflected on where I wanted my career to take me next.

Enter Insperity. In December 2021, I was hired as the Director of Creative and Design. Tasked with leading a team of approximately 25 designers, writers and videographers as part of Insperity’s full-service, in-house marketing agency, I find myself in a corporate setting for the first time in my career. Getting to lead a creative team, with the backing and stability of a major corporation, has turned out to be the best of both worlds for me.

I invite you to explore my work.

My portfolio is a mere snapshot of a long and rich career where I have been blessed to wear many hats: creative director, art director and graphic/UX designer. I am an ever-evolving creative with childlike enthusiasm and enough wisdom to know I still have more to learn and more to create.
